Our Story
Our story began in 1973 when our founders, Casey, and Sally Hicks, opened Fabric Town USA at 2686 E Main Street in Ventura. Born in Butler, Oklahoma in 1937, Casey worked his way up from humble beginnings, picking cotton until he was 18, before starting with TG&Y five-and-dime stores and later helping open over 100 fabric stores across California. Inspired by his passion for fabrics, he decided to open his own store, creating something special that has stood the test of time.
Casey and his wife Sally built this business from the ground up—quite literally. The tables you see here were crafted by Casey and family members, a symbol of the dedication that defines our business. Since our doors opened in 1973, four generations of the Hicks family have worked here. In the early days, you would find Casey and Sally, their son Todd, daughter Tracy, and Sally’s mother Mavis all contributing to the store. Tracy has been managing the store since the mid-1980s, and today, she continues to carry on the family tradition alongside her daughter, Grace.
Our team is an extension of our family, with many employees working with us for over a decade, helping us maintain the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that keeps our customers coming back.
We’re proud of our history and excited for our future. Thank you for being a part of it!
